As the fifth Working Meeting of National Outstanding Technical Professionals is about to take place, significant “Data and Facts” are released to indicate success achieved in the past five years.

55 million: the population of China’s technical professionals has reached 55.5 million, which accounts for 45.6% of the overall Chinese talents; the ratio of high school, middle school, and elementary technical professionals is 11:36:53, technical professionals with junior college or higher educational background takes up to 68.6%. The structure will continuously be optimized. 

8.6 million: in the last five years, the population of technical professionals in China has increased by 8.6 million, among whom are 60,000 postdoctoral researchers, 1.0557 million overseas returnees. The population of professionals with technical qualifications has reached 9.4515 million. 

160,000: At the moment, there are over 1500 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. 167,000 experts receive special government allowance from the state council and play increasingly leading role.

0.2 billion: over 0.2 billion technical professionals were encouraged to participate in continuing education.

5800: until now, 80 continuous education bases for national technical professionals, 5463 postdoctoral research stations and work stations, as well as 280 Overseas Student Pioneer Parks were established.
