On Aug. 25, 2015, the Center for China & Globalization welcomed a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) led by Director General William Swing and the chief representative in China, Mr. Par Liljert.

On behalf of CCG, President Wang Huiyao showed the delegation around in the headquarters office and held a roundtable meeting with the distinguished guests regarding future cooperation on the research of migration issues. Dr. Wang is also a member of IOM’s Migration Advisory Board.  On CCG side, other participants include Executive Vice President Frances Sun, Secretary General Dr. Mabel Miao Lu, Senior Fellow Dr. Daniel Garst.

With 157 member states, a further 10 states holding observer status, and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. CCG has a long-term cooperative relationship with IOM. The organizations have jointly published a series of study reports and held multiple forums on international talent mobility.

On May 7, 2015, IOM convened the first meeting of its high level Migration Advisory Board (MAB) in Geneva. As one of the IOM’s 13 international counselors, Dr. Wang was invited to share his insights about CCG research and policy advisory activities on migration issues. He also attended IOM’s International Dialogue on Migration in Geneva, Switzerland, in March 2014, and delivered a presentation in the "South-South Migration: Partnering Strategically for Development" Workshop.
