Li Lei is Vice President, North Asia, SABIC covering Greater China, Japan & Korea. He is also Board Member at SABIC-Sinopec JV in China (SSTPC), and the executive board member of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF). He also served the last Chairmanship of the Global Methanol Institute (MI) Board of Directors.

A native of China, Li Lei is a veteran in the chemical sector in China with over many years of experience in a variety of leadership roles. Li’s experience includes sales, business development and technology licensing, as well as P&L leader, country head, JV board member and M&A Director. He has held senior positions at Sinochem, Owens Corning, Rohm & Haas /Dow Chemical, Monsanto/Solutia, and Lurgi. Prior to joining SABIC, he was Vice President, Du Pont China Holding Company in Beijing.

Li Lei has been active in the US-China Business Council, AmCham, the Association of International Chemical Manufacturers (AICM), and the Western Returned Scholars Association of China. He is a frequent keynote speaker at various forums and on major TV networks in China.

Li Lei studied and worked in Europe and North America for seven years before returning to China in 1994 and again in 2006. He holds a bachelor degree from Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology and a MBA degree (1992) from The Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
