CEO and founder of Liulishuo


Wang Yi is the CEO and founder of Liulishuo. Liulishuo is the leading mobile learning product for spoken English and one of the most active language learners' communities in China with over 25 million users. It combines world-class proprietary speech evaluation technologies with gamified learning experience to provide learners with measurable and proven results. Liulishuo was picked by Apple as "Selected Apps of the Year” and featured in all iPhones and iPod Touches on display at all Apple Stores throughout China. Liulishuo has received investments from top US and China investors including GGV, IDG, and etc. Before founding Liulishuo in September 2012, Yi was a product director at AdChina, responsible for its performance ads platform. Yi was a product manager at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California from 2009 to 2011, responsible for Google Analytics and several network infrastructure products. He received his Ph.D in computer science from Princeton University in 2009 (, and MSE and BE in electronic engineering from Tsinghua University. He ranked #1 in his hometown Hangzhou in China's National College Entrance Exam in 1999. 
Yi had experience working at Cisco, AT&T Research Labs, Microsoft Research Asia, Bain & Company. He is the current chair of Princeton's Alumni Association in Shanghai, and was former social chair at Princeton's Graduate Student Government, and former vice president of Tsinghua's Alumni Association at Northern California. In 2015, Yi was named as one of Shanghai's "Top 10 Young Leaders in IT" by the Shanghai municipal government and chosen as part to participate in its "One-Thousand People Plan," as well as the Yangpu District's "3310" plan (Class A), both of which aim to bring talented overseas Chinese back to China.
